Individuals (Adults, Adolescents, Elders)
Jason specializes in helping individuals navigate transitions in life. Depression and anxiety are often a response to such transitions. However, good treatment offers more than symptom reduction. Lasting change requires acceptance of, compassion for and commitment to what is meaningful in life. Helping people find their way into this process is how working with a therapist can be an effective and empowering experience.

Expertise and Training
“I am integrative in my orientation.”
- Relational Psychodynamic Depth Psychology
- Attachment Theory
- Mindfulness Based Models of Treatment: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MCBT)
- Gottman / Emotional Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)
“My training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and attachment theory influences my understanding of what is not going well in a person’s life. Humanistic and relational ideas help me to make space and draw attention to what is going right. Collaboratively, we work together to cultivate and learn from this experience.”
Theoretical Orientation
“I focus on the practical and concrete over the esoteric. I am up very up front with new patients about being over-educated (something I usually apologize for!). I love a good theory and have spent too much time around books. But, I also know first-hand that lived experience can be far richer and valuable than books and that a theory is only as good as what it can explain. I am skeptical in this way, finding a mindful awareness orientation to be quite useful as a starting point for feeling better and gaining clarity about ones life.”
Several elements that characterize Jason’s work with patients are:
- a focus on what makes people unique. “I emphasize the idea that all thoughts, feelings and behaviors happen in a context, without understanding this perspective we are prone to getting things wrong from the start.”
- “I am integrative and experiential in my orientation (i.e. psychological/theoretical) and have learned it is more important and effective in the long run to put people before models or theories of treatment. Thus, I tailor treatment to patient’s specific needs and goals through collaboration and some trial and error.
- a focus on deep and meaningful engagement. “I am a skilled listener for who you are and what you value most. The relationship we build during this process allows us to develop what might be called actionable knowledge, i.e. knowledge you can use to make choices and decisions about where to go and what to do.”
